It's with great sadness I must inform you all, that our old friend through many years, Graham Cleverly aka gcle2003, has passed away.
I received the news from his family today and his oldest son sent me this announcement to share with you all.

     Graham Albert William Cleverley

After a short illness, in his adopted home of Luxembourg, passed away on 20th June 2013, fourteen days before his eightieth birthday.
He is sorely missed by his partner Jo Anne Moeller, her daughter Tina, his sons Mark, Luke and Paul, grandchildren John, Joe, Sam, Sophie, and Charlotte, great grand daughter Alana, and by his many friends and relations in Luxembourg, the UK, the USA, and beyond.
A memorial service will be held in mid July in Luxembourg and later in the United Kingdom.
In memoriam donations if desired may be made to Graham`s favourite charity, Médecins Sans Frontières, via CCP LU75 1111 0000 4848 0000.

Bonnevoie, le 23 juni 2013

For those of us who learned to know Graham as a good friend, his son was kind enough to send us a summary of Grahams life to extend our knowledge of this.

He will be sorely missed.  RIP Graham.

Very sad, he will be missed even by us who did not know him personally.  We have all learnt a lot from him.

My condolences to his family, should they read these pages.

With my every visit to the forum over the last countless months his sparse presence was always of note in my mind. Absolutely gutted at this news. It just brings home the fact that behind all usernames here there is a real person. I'm proud to say I learned a lot from this man over the years; his deep analytical style and his way with words.

Grateful to him for his thoughtfulness at the last days of his life and to his family for passing the news to us.

RIP Graham, glad to have been acquainted with you.

Absolutely floored by the news. Graham was always a brilliant light, blazing forth reason which illuminated the most darkened recesses of any enigmatic discussion. While he and I often disagreed, he was one of the most fair minded individuals I have ever met. He is, quite simply, irreplaceable.

May your memory be eternal, dear brother, for you are worthy of blessedness and everlasting memory.

I'm glad his son informed us. He was most senior member among regular posters AFAIK. It would be very disturbing as he would stop posting and we are without any clue. That problem always boggled me. There should be an automated system (I bet there is) to close all your website accounts after your death and notice the staff cause of your death.. If I just hit by a truck, all my accounts will be in limbo. No one knows my passwords and very few of my internet friends have connections to my "real life" friends and relatives.

The forum has lost a great member. I learnt a lot from him as well.

May Graham rest in peace. He was a great man that touched all of us who had the pleasure of interacting with him. He will be missed. I appreciated his intellect, his fondness for terminology, his ability to grasp any situation, and for having spent his time with us.

Denny told me last night about it. Very saddened to hear the news.. Had a great admiration for his ease with words, and many a college night was spent debating his perspectives over the years.

Nothing but fondness, respect, and admiration. So RIP Graham, and in my most heartfelt tip of the cap, cheers.

Someone just informed me that gcle2003 is dead by referring to a thread in this forum, however there were some conflicts between us in the last days in AE but I always looked upon him as a respectable man, anyway his death was really a sad news, may he rest in peace.

I was looking through his last posts. It is difficult to accept a friend has gone in this forum. A friend because I consider everybody to be friends. And for me it is still harder to grasp that everyone of you are real people; and not only virtual beings on the web. We are real crazy people that argue through thousand of miles, from many countries. Isn't that unreal? And because we are humans, we must follow the same path of life and death. I won't forget Graham, and all I can say is that I am still shocked because his departure.

And my sympathies for his family and friends.

I'll be wearing white for 3 months because Graham is gone, it's been a torment since the dawn of humanity for a loved one to pass, maybe that is why we all find peace in our passings, it means we no longer have to worry about awaiting our time, or awaiting our loved ones' passing. But, all in all, we must all mourn a good friend

For some reason I don't feel sad at all. But then this is typical of me when someone dies; I simply reflect on the good experiences and interactions with them and smile. Graham gave me plenty to think about, and so I smile a lot reminiscing about our conversations.

He had a good run, lived a full life, and I'm pretty certain he thoroughly enjoyed his time here with our online discussion community. It was a win-win all round and you can't ask for more than that.

Graham was a learned and compassionate man with a brilliant mind; with an adept ability in many subjects
ranging from history to technology, from management to games, from art to science; and with a powerful sense of fairness and justice. His friends can best describe him for us: “truly a Renaissance Man”, “a man of great talent and understanding”, “one in a million... an incredible intellectual and the epitome of an English gentleman”, “an interesting, learned and entertaining man”, who “embraced an unusually eclectic array of interests and mastered them to an enviable degree...”

This is exactly how I would describe him!

I can easily say that I am very saddened despite reminiscing on the times reading and learning from his posts. He will be sorely missed by everyone, and will leave a hole in our own family here on this forum. His knowledge and insight, something that was always a welcome and added so much to any conversation, it's tough to think what we have lost from this great man.
