Think if you met a guy who know all of the Japanese sword martial arts like Battōjutse, Iaido, Iaijutsu, Kenjutsu, and Shinkendo

Wouldn't help him much since exercising them in public would be illegal.

He should have said hooker, it has a much better catch on it. Otherwise a brilliant response.

Hmmm... That sounds awfully familiar, and indeed it is:

It's even more blatant an untruth since General Cosgrove has adamantly denied ever having done such an interview:

lol, it's great but I'm not surprised it's a hoax. It's hard to imagine Peter Cosgrove, who I've always thought of as a bit stuffy, ever actually saying that. But more to the point, I can't imagine 46 seconds of dead air on the ABC.

I noticed the American version Panther posted also says prositute so my points a bit moot but anyway, but I was going to say, hooker is a uncommonly used wotd in Australia. It has entered through American TV but has the double meaning of a hooqah/narglis/waterpipe and sounds like something you'd use fishing.

Which gives a great double entendre in the phrase:
I've smoked a hooker.

What if targets were designed to look like Muslims?, or Jews?, or Quakers?, etc.?

I was struck by a sequence on television that I saw the other day. Can't remember what program it was, but a dutch guy was visiting a gun shop in Tenessee. Quiet small town, law abiding people, no rednecks in sight.

The dutchman asked how many guns were in the store. Thousands, came the reply. When asked why people need all these guns, the shopkeeper looked confused and asked "So how would you defend yourself?". The dutchman looked equally astonished because he relaised that in Europe we really don't have the same threat level to defend against.

You can argue that guns are tools and that it's the users who kill (I actually agree), but that conveniently forgets the psychological boost a person gets from having a gun to hand. The Colt 45 was not nicknamed the "Equalizer" for nothing. In other words, the existence of guns within a society can create a need to use guns to defend against those who wish to use them. That's not true of all societies (Switzerland has a law making domestic gun ownership mandatory but not the same gun crime problem as America)

Caldrail:
I can understand the Dutch blokes confusion, I suppose it would be similar in most western countries.

The mandatory ownership of guns in Switzerland, I believe, is a fairly traditional thing, where all males under a certain age are members of the Army Reserve and must be ready to take up arms to defend Switzerland at, virtually, a moments notice.
