What do you mean by the v2 anti popes? If you mean 'Vatican 2 anti-popes' then I just worry about your little mind, drowned as it is in pre industrial conceptions of the universe.

There are 3 types af anti-popes. One who has stolen an election, two who has committed some act or proclaimed some blasphemy or heresy as to render himself such and 3-- a combination of both.  The latter is most common.

Being a History forum and not a platform for pet theories and off-the-wall advocacies, eccentric employment of terms with accepted historical criteria and conditions are hardly worthy of consideration. All that is needed for this thread to implode is a proponent on behalf of Pope Joan! In common usage, with the exception of isolated figures reflecting the instability of political life in the Italian peninsula at critical junctures of both the Eastern Roman Empire and the Germano-Roman Empire, the term has validity solely in discussion of the Great Western Schism of 1378-1429. The definition given in the response above is pure bollocks! The last anti-pope was Clement VIII, who abdicated the papacy in 1429 so as to end the schism. As for there being "anti-popes" today, well such a discussion has merit solely in a pub after the spilling of many pints!
