Although I myself belong to the late generation which did not even have classes of communist ideology at school, I was still subject to the influence of the Cold war propaganda machine because I entered my school when the SU was still intact Smile   Following the turmoil of 90s I went for study at a western university like many Russians  did. This was unimaginable 20 years before, but proved to become normal these days.

Nowadays, thanks to the Internet and relatively open borders, everyone speaks English and it's become kinda easier to reach out over the erstwhile Iron curtain in order to discuss some past deeds, and I've been reading a Tony Judt's book lately which is abundant in diverse facts which only instigated my interest ..

Attached is a screenshot from this book, which I am hopeful to discuss. I've highlighted a few excerpts, one of which says "by 1946 the US had 9 nuclear warheads". By that time, as you can imagine, Soviet Union had none. Since 1946 both countries seem to have reached some kinda of parity which will make the war less likely or feasible than ever. But I am wondering, wouldn't 1946 be the best time for the US to attack if they wanted to? Smile I dont wanna seem like I am lopsided in my bias against anyone or anything, so if moderators find the discussion of this topic too disturbing I dont mind if we shut the thread as soon as it starts

Hi,
what about WW2? Hiroshima & Nagasaki?
the first thermonuclear tests couldn't have been in the 1950's

we are lied to, is that what author is saying?

Industrial Military Complex represents the interests of international bankers- 13 families like Rothschild, Rockefeller, Carnegie & corporate warlords-triangulated by three countries

I think you may be confusing atomic and thermonuclear types of weapon. Thermonuclear weapon indeed came about in 1950s

PS Atomic bombs rely on principle of atomic fission, whereas thermonuclear bombs rely on the opposite principle of nuclear synthesis or fusion, which makes them a way more powerful..

This is all I can see when I open your YT-link Smile

The episode was very funny, it showed John Cleese educating the TV audience by telling the life story of Tchaikovsky while everyone else in the studio was asleep. But also somehow the whole story was intertwined with the Farming club program, which was clearly absurd. It used to be searchable on youtube by keywords "monty farming club" or "monty tchaikovsky", but they have apparently removed it following copyright claims from producers, I suppose..

All I could find from that episode is this bit showing Russian pianist released from Gulag giving a concert ..
