If prior to 1990 you had listed any ten ships, say Santa Maria, Golden Hind, Victory, Bismark, Graf Spee, Titanic, Lusitania, Queen Mary, Normandie, Témeraire , the one that would have been correctly identified by most people would be Titanic. And actually that would have applied before the film A Night To Remember (and before the book, if you adjust for Bismark and Graf Spee).

Claiming the film made Titanic famous is like claiming no-one heard of Charles Lindbergh before the 1976 movie.
Citizen of Ankh-Morpork.

Never believe anything until it has been officially denied - Sir Humphrey Appleby, 1984.

As well the moments before the collision of the Andrea Doria and the Stockholm, are just as fascinating today as they were many years ago. I believe the Reader's Digest had a great article concerning these events.

It just should not have, ever happened!

Regards,

Excellent film. If you took notice, at 2:03-2:08 you can just make out the word 'Titanic'.
History in the making. God bless <3
