At the beginning of Barbarossa, the fully mobilised strength of German invading forces were in par with Soviet Army with about 3 millions men each however Soviet Union had around 1.7 millions   of soldiers between Moscow and Caucasus , Siberia and in the frontier with Japanese occupied Manchuria. From the other hand, Germany left substantial force in occupied Europe and in training camp inside Germany.
Total strength of German Armed Forces on all fronts at the beginning of invasion of Soviet union was 7.3 millions men.
Total frontline strength of Soviet Union in January 1942 was 4.7 millions. Due to heavy losses at the beginning of campaign, Soviet Army numerical strength was reduced to 2.3 millions men at November 1941. At this time Axis forces enjoyed substantial numerical advantage over Red Army. So, during Battle of Moscow there was a distinct numerical superiority of German Forces until 10 divisions of Soviet forces from Far East were transferred to Moscow region.

In 1941 Soviet Union military industry outperform German industry, despite big influence of lost production due to the rapid evacuation of industrial installations from western USSR to Western Siberia.
In the year of 1941, British and USA Land & Lease delivers to USSR were minimal and did not influence eastern front battles until mid 1942.

At the defensive stage of Battle of Stalingrad (August-November 1942)the Soviet 62 Army defending the City centre was 54,000 men strong at the peak.
The German 6 Army committed against them 25 divisions with more than 100,000 man (aprox. 2:1 German numerical advantage at main axis of attack). Nerveless, the Soviet Army was able to stop the advancing Germans and were able to create stalemate situation bleeding the German force at the time when large Soviet Armies were concentrated at the wings of Stalingrad Front defended by German allies (Romanians, Hungarians and Italians). By sacrifices of Soviet 62 Army, Soviet High Command was able to create substantial numerical advantage at the areas of breakthroughs.
