We used to have a grey cell thread where North gave us all kinds of difficult brain teasers. Well, this is not close to being as gruesome. This is as easy as a brain fart on a Sunday night. It's the oxymoron page. List a few, bring a cold one and chuckle.

Oxy(contin), I mean OXYMORONs below:

Alone together
Boneless ribs
Civil war
Consensual rape
Vanilla Chocolate

...alright, you get the drift

this next one I picked off from a George Carlin video.

Preboard(ing) - you either board or you don't. "Pre" does not even fit into this equation until some yuppie gave it a go at the Airlines.

 - to go aboard in advance (dictionary.com)
 - to piss off those that waited longer than others who are taken in advance (Sekonary)

...or, as George would have it:

Anyway, as part of this 'boarding process,' they say, "We would like to pre-board." Well, what exactly is that, anyway? What does it mean to 'pre-board', you get on before you get on? > > That's another complaint of mine: too much use of this prefix 'pre-,' it's all over the language now, 'pre-' this, 'pre-' that. "Place the turkey in a pre-heated oven." That's ridiculous, there's only two states an oven can possibly exist in, heated or un-heated! "Pre-heated" is a meaningless f_king term. It's like 'pre-recorded,' "this program was pre-recorded," well of course it was pre-recorded, when else are you gonna record it, afterwards?

^ sounds political, which segways into this next one:

- political science
On our latest show of 'In Capital Hill' the conservatives and liberals battle it out over creationism versus evolution. The winner of this debate will have their views plastered all over little Johnny's science book.

Whatnot (I still don't know if this is an official word but sounds messed up) - : a nondescript person or thing

:any of various other things that might also be mentioned <paper clips, pins, and whatnot>

Clenched fist.
Speaks for itself. Not strictly an oxymoron though.

Calling someone a cynic. (esp. if you don't know them very well)
Think about it.

Outspoken calls for bans / censorship.
The media are most culpable for this one.

Something going on hold / someone taking a break indefinitely.
Do they mean forever, or are they really just saying that they don't know exactly when normal service will resume? Tiger Woods is a prime example. An 'indefinite break' from Golf, pointless it is.

Unilateralism: basically making decisions on your own. How is one being 'lateral' if they literally do things without extending participation to anyone apart from themselves?

It can't be one lateral, when it is zero lateral.

Subconscious - existing in the mind but not immediately available to consciousness
Unconscious -   not knowing or perceiving : not aware : free from self-awareness

Past experience

^ Redundancy at work for sure. Now check this absurdity out, open fist? What is that? A slap? A sissy hitting back?

(fist - the hand closed as in grasping.) A fist is clenched by nature, nor should it be called a fist if it is open.

Ha, I just caught myself being redundant in the previous statement:   "^ Redundancy at work for sure" No need to say, 'for sure' if I know the statement is already redundant. I'll just stick with 'redundancy at work'. That's my final answer. Tongue
