'Race' is a tired old fantasy, and arguing about it is a waste of time.

When I hear about "pure" culture, I think about inbreeding.  Either literally as in breeding that brings out harmful recessive traits, like hemophilia in the Russian Tsarist bloodline, or figuratively, in the sense of a culture having conceptual blindspots which, if there are enough of them, prevent the culture from thriving.  Of course, America may have the opposite problem, instead of having cultural persistence, it sometimes seems like we have the flavor of the month.  The cultural wind blows back and forth, and most people, like leaves caught in the breeze follow whether doing so is good or not.

I don't think that anyone is "arguing" about the OP, which simply poses a question. I think it's possible that northern Chinese people mixed with Sogdians and other "caucasian" people in early history.

As to whether "race" is a tired old fantasy or not, I'll leave to the experts.

It's the Ireland that was born in me.

I would think that with any population, you should be able to trace both maternal and paternal lineage back to some extent.  From what I understand though, is that China having a strongly developed culture, in time absorb invaders who eventually adopt their ways.

Who are the Sogdians?

Sogdia was the ancient civilization of an Iranian people and a province of the Achaemenid Empire, eighteenth in the list on the Behistun Inscription of Darius the Great (i. 16). Sogdiana is "listed" as the second of the "good lands and countries" that Ahura Mazda created. This region is listed second after Airyanem Vaejah, "homeland of the Aryans", in the Zoroastrian book of Vendidad, indicating the importance of this region from ancient times. Sogdiana, at different times, included territories around Samarkand, Bukhara, Khujand, Panjikent and Shahrisabz in modern Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. (From Wikipedia)

I think that the Tajiks are descendants of the ancient Sogdians.

Modern DNA research is providing many answers but there are many questions remaining. There have been cataclysmic events and Glacial changes which drove people into various safe havens like India and the mountain valleys. I have seen where most modern Chinese people came from there according to DNA. If you go back before that 9th Millennia BCE you get all so many interesting things to consider. Thorne drove the date of Nanking Man back to 750,000 years ago. A recent south china cave sees human artifacts dated to 2.4 million years ago.

Aryan has meaning in the linguistic historical research and political hegemony. Things like gunpowder, an early printing process, paddle-wheel boats, and many other things China can claim are not ancient. A cross-bow there is interesting as well as the travels to the Grand canyon and other things reported in a book about fifteen years ago. (1492 was it's name, maybe) I think the Ainu are traceable to 200,000 years ago and they provide many links to what we might now call races. This is a somewhat pertinent factoid to consider. Dolni Vestonici is very connected with the Ainu and the Urumchi area where the current Great Wall of China is. This is where reports say Lao-Tzu went to see the ancient masters when he was near death - many white people with all races - see Mummies of Urumchi.

Archaeology a magazine or web site of the American Institute of Archaeology appears to be saying this find of 19,000 year old (or 20,000) ceramics is the oldest in the world. I guess they don't know about Dolni Vestonici where a double kiln was found along with hundreds of other kilns making figurines and art as well as pots and ceramics. Crude pottery is found in footprints after a dry season follows a wet season - to discuss the origin if this is foolish.

Dolni Vestonici is firmly dated almost 10 millennia older, and the article also says the prior earliest pots of ceramic content was far younger still. Maybe they are only talking about China. But it would be interesting to know the DN of Dolni Vestonici are the same white people said to have settled China about this era and which we have lots of reason to think are associated with the Ainu near Urumchi and the present day Great Wall of China.

The invention of pottery for collecting, storing, and cooking food was a key development in human culture and behavior. Until recently, it had been thought that the emergence of pottery was part of the Neolithic Revolution around 10,000 years ago, which also brought agriculture, domesticated animals, and groundstone tools. Finds of much older pottery have put this theory to rest. This year, archaeologists dated what is now thought to be the oldest known pottery in the world, from the site of Xianrendong Cave in the Jiangxi Province of southeastern China. The cave had been dug before, in the 1960s, 1990s, and 2000, but the dating of its earliest ceramics was uncertain. Researchers from China, the United States, and Germany reexamined the site to find samples for radiocarbon dating. While the area had particularly complex stratigraphy—too complex and disturbed to be reliable, according to some—the researchers are confident that they have dated the earliest pottery from the site to 20,000 to 19,000 years ago, several thousand years before the next oldest examples. “These are the earliest pots in the world,” says Harvard’s Ofer Bar-Yosef, a coauthor on the Science paper reporting the finds. He also cautions, “All this does not mean that earlier pots will not be discovered in South China.”"

The link which follows tells us about the Tamil Siddhar - in a thread by this name I include Clyde Winters proving linguistic connections to the Urumchi area.

It is a source of the original post question about the mixing or miscegenation of the races which included slave trading by the Polos who got a huge amount more for Tartar women than mere Nubian men.

Seeking knowledge or the Bodhisattva Way of the Tathagatha was sweeping the world when Hecateus and Pythagoras began what became the egis or ethos we call Dialectics and which lead to the Scientific Method. To think that Greeks did not travel to India and China is a farce of history. Alexander in his travels followed others like his father who conquered Scythia or brought it into his realm of influence. We may have to travel back in time to see just how interconnected the elites were and how many nations and religions they started to manage this world. There is ample evidence of trade and exchange of ideas or science for many millennia with occasional wars and Dark Ages or destructive acts in what James Joyce properly called a 5,000 year "nightmare". The 400 year Dark Ages which followed the Trojan War and started the Hellenizing book burning and secreting of information and re-writing of history still infects our education to this day.
