Hi,
 
I named myself youngblood because I am quite young, but still quite passionate about history. I probally will rarely post topics myself, but I plan on taking in all the information you guys have to offer and maybe eventually become educated enough in the human past to actually hold a conversation with you guys. 
 
Just a little about my interests they are wide and vary greatly, but one topic is very dear to me. That is the story of the mighty Byzantines and of their tragic fall from power. I consider it a great travesty to see how they have been so rudely looked over in the American education system and I come seeking more knowledge about them.
 
Anyway thanks and I hope you will find my presence tolerable Smile

Sorry Dawn, but I sometimes get a little peeved! My apologies to all above! But, it is daunting to post almost anything on this site, and then get double teamed in taunts, and insults by both gcle2003 and drgonzaga!

It is an issue that needs some concern! And it also usual that when I retort "tit-for-tat" that some one moderates!

Gcle2003 and drgonzaga, bless them both, seem almost immune from such words of warning.

But, by now, I really do expect it! As of course does at least one other poster.

You expect an in-depth investigation from every current member before they welcome a newcomer? Give them a break on this one, they were merely welcoming an ostensively legit new poster. Jeesh.

The comment was intended to stop the bickering and trolling from all sides. The edit was offensive language.  I made no judgement on who was right (I don't care) or even what it was about.

I think Dawn did very well, in dealing with the rather clear part of the situation which she outlined.

In addition to this, I would beg everyone to let me make a request, with a wee bit of context. I understand gcle_2003 when he says that two people welcomed the spammer; indeed, there are two rather obvious links in his signature that would reveal him for what he is -- although, as I recall, Frasier liked those watches. Wink That said, I would likely have made the same mistake (i.e. I would have welcomed him) had I seen the rather innocuous post he made without checking the signature. That is because I am careless and gcle is not. If anyone were to be reprimanded because of the situation, it would be me.

That said, I think everyone could agree on the following provisions:

1) We need to be welcoming to forum members.

2) We need to be vigilant of spammers.

Since we can all agree on those, can we also cover the faults of our brothers in this matter? I know there was a bit of a disagreement here, and one that was somewhat justified -- although you will note that there are legitimate arguments to be made on both sides of the matter. Could we agree that this was but a small disagreement, and one where merits are to be found in the outlooks of everyone involved? Pleeeeeaaaaasse? Embarrassed If you guys don't agree, I can spam-beg 20-30 times per day for the next week -- not a threat or anything like that. Wink

I guess I just thought that he or she was in love with "Cartier?"

Next time I will be on the lookout, and I will not try to embarass current, or new members. Unlike some of the "trolls" who do so with regularity!

It is now very hot here in Mississippi, but it must well be very cool under the bridges where our famous "trolls" now reside?
