This is something I am curious about. For example if a band of mercenaries plundered a town how would they share the plunder, how much would go to the captain and how much to the men?

I know in privateering on ships spoil was divided by thirds, but obviously land forces did not have the running cost of a ship to factor in, so how did this work on land?
AE CC titles: Classic Shapes (x2), World2.1, Mongol Empire, Middle East.

I think the division of the spoils would be based upon, 1.) the agreement with the employer of the mercenaries, and 2.) the rank of the ones who captured it.

I used to know this for Arab armies but it has skipped my mind right now!
I know if in a champions duel you won, you kept any loot from your defeated victim. Which on a few occasions meant poor foot soldiers were falling over themselves to fight the enemies wealthy champions
