If you had a time machine that could only go back in time and then back to where you came from. Where would you go?

As predicted I would go to Germany in 1934 and then San Francisco in the summer of 67 and trip acid with all the hippies and then somehow I would master german and steal a Nazi uniform and appear before Hitler in the Bunker of Berlin and make him believe that I am "Providence" as he said a million times, lol. Big smile

Why go back to the past, I would go 1 million years to the future to see the humans after they evolved. Probably by then all humans left earth to colonise the universe. That would be something.

I'd sit in my timemachine with a big cheesy smile with the knowledge that if I wanted to, I could change history, but not actually do anything in case I altered the space time continuum (whatever that means).

Its not possible in my opinion because time would branch off into different paths. If i could however I would go back 2 years and correct my mistakes...

And visit Dune!

Sorry. Just love Herbert's masterpiece, plus it coincides with your predictions.

According to maths it would be technically impossible to change the past it seems. Guess we need to stick to the future.

According to string theory voodoo you can't change neither past nor future. If you go to either you will just be an "observer" and apparently no one can detect you. Now that is awsome.

I would steal some of the most important scrolls from the Great Library of Alexandria before they all went up in smoke.

in the preface to "the great divorce", c.s. lewis mentions a sci fi book where a man goes back in time and because he cant change anything, he is unable to eat because the food is hard as a rock, and the rain goes through him like bullets! COOL!
don't believe everything you think. : )

Actually scrap that.  I would go back to about August 10th and tell myself what I was getting into.

I'd take it apart to figure out how it works.

PS. After I had done that I might read the manual.

You cannot go to the past but you can observe it. Just look up in the sky a clear night and you can see stars and galaxies as they were long time ago.

Imagine some reflective layer of gas or similar somewhere, that worked like some gigantic mirror. In that layer you could perhaps get an image of the Earth, perhaps as it was thousands of year ago. It would just take a good enough telescope.

In one of the old Superman films Superman flew anti clockwise around the globe, managing to go back a day in time and save Louis Lane from imminent death. True story.

..i would go back to September 1986 and reverse my decision to go for a jolly juant around the country roads on my motorbike, or at least bring the trip forward by a few hours, avoiding the 'chuck-out time' at the local pubs, thus reducing the risk of encountering the drunken car-driving Censored imbecile who crashed into me, shattering my right leg, causing a major re-organisation of my chosen life and career options and eventually reducing me to the lame duck i am now 24 years later....

...oh for a real time-machine!!!....quack quack!!Thumbs Up.....
