I meant to post something up about this, but Panther got there before me in the other thread about atheists. I feel this deserves a discussion all of its own.

It goes without saying that I vigorously oppose this law, possibly the first time I've ever been impassioned about any political issue in Ireland. Considering the abuse scandals which continue to get rolled out involving the church, nothing could be possibly worse than introducing legislation aimed at defending these groups. The guy in that article puts it well; ideas should not be defended by laws, people should. Its a massive misinterpretation of our right to freedom of speech, conscience and the freedom to criticise what we consider wrong in our country. Its a bit like going back to the dark old days when even the Life of Brian was banned in this country. I hope the atheist organisation take on this law by overindulging in anti religious insults, just to test it. I really hope we can this over-turned.

And in the interests of expressing my right to say what I feel I should be allowed to say, I'll do my little bit of 'la resistance'. Moses was a bit of an asshole. There, I said it. Now come and get me, Mr. Ahern.

What! Anti-semitism on this Forum! What has poor Moses done now? Besides, if you are going to get it right you have to touch all bases: Moses, Buddha, Jesus, Mohammed and the eponomous Jesuits, not to mention a few choice words about De Valera!

However do not invoke the name Guinness in vain! You'll live to regret it, Parnell. Excuse me while I bend down to lace my Holy Sandals!Approve

Besides the ranting of sulfur smelling Bjork (see the other thread about her misbehaviour in Thailand) I also support the protest action from the Atheists. Religious laws do not belong in our modern world.

I think he was a bit of a nagging ninny to be honest. Honestly, going up to the mountainside for yonks and not expecting his people to go mad with drink and start worshipping golden cows? If he thought that was bad he should really check out Dublin city centre on a friday night.

Insulting Moses offends Islam too. It's kind of like three birds with one stone with that one making Mohammad's inclusion is a bit superfluous.
