Wow this is a surprise....

"This is a platform through which the new god-favored land communicates with the rest of the world."

https://www.youtube....h?v=eob7Ki0Vhww

The video presentation is about the new landmark in Chengdu called New Century Global Center.

The translation by the narrator was a loose one as the words literally used by the prompt was Tianfu or the name of the city in which the city center is located in.  But the narrator seems to disregard this fact and provides a translation which says "god-favored land".

Allow me to clarify.  The narrator should have said "This is a platform through which Tianfu, Chengdu's new district, communicates with the rest of the world."

But he didn't, which amuses to me to no end.  His wording literally suggests China is the new seat of mandated global power.  I won't comment as to whether that is politcally viable or truthful to any degree.  I'm just saying that a translator's mistake could stem from what many mainland Chinese are beginning to think of their own country.

New age style propaganda; wrapped surreptitiously in maoist-communist style traditional rhetoric.

disregard it...as one should disregard most crap from the PRC official and unofficial mouthpieces. Their distortions and egotistical banter remains much the same as it did 3500 years ago.

I suspect "Heavenly Kingdom" is the usual translation

China has long held the belief that they are pure blood human beings, and that westerners are simian. It's a bit fascist on the quiet I guess but then the Chinese are too polite to make an issue of it. Truth is, I sort of agree with them. All the apes come out on a saturday night in my area. I had one this afternoon trying to intimidate me (as he always does - his ape-descended brain still does not comprehend that as tough as he talks, he still comes across as very immature).

Still, it must be said that China is basically one of the oldest nationbs in existence.

If China was promoting itself as "God Favoured", it wouldn't be the first country to do so.

Over the millenia, quite a few European countries were referred to as "Chosen by God", or something similar.

It doesn't mean anything unless you happen to believe what they say.

Just a little off topic for a moment, but why do we refer to countries in the female gender.

Yes, I know, many people refer to the motherland, but, Germany for example, is referred to as The Fatherland, but we don't say "Himself" when talking about Germany.

I wonder why that is?

The United States is "Uncle Sam."

Maybe nations are mothers because they are soft power, all embracing, all encompassing.  Nurturing.
Or maybe it means that if you don't do what she wants you to do, you will never hear the end of it....

Of course, China is the Middle Kingdom, between heaven and earth.  Don't they also consider themselves the sons of Han?  The Chin dynasty, from what I understand, is not quite as culturally esteemed.
But if someone else can comment on the relationship between the Chinese and the Han and Chin (Qin) dynasties, i would appreciate it.

For Greece, Delphi was the navel of the world, I believe that Islam, Mecca is the navel of the world., with Medina and Jerusalem being distant seconds and thirds.  "All roads lead to Rome."
I am sure that the Japanese in WWII thought themselves the center of the world, POWs mocked this by calling their flag, the flaming asshole.

Everybody thinks the selves the center of the universe, which can't be true because I'm the centerWink
