One of my favorite hobbies is drawing, and one of my favorite themes for drawings is historical, particularly ancient history. Here's a selection of my most recent artwork, all of which were colored in GIMP:

Egyptian Queen (not really any particular queen, although her headdress was inspired by Nefertiti's)

Egyptian Pharaoh Rameses II

Egyptian Spearman and Babylonian Archer

Numidian King Juba I

Great work Jabrosky - thanks for sharing.
You say they were colored in GIMP...  does that mean you base it on a pencil drawing you are scanning?

Yes, I drew them in pencil. And thanks for the welcoming!

Nice art work and a big welcome to the forum.

Out of curiosity, is this the only ancient historical region you are interested in drawing?

I actually have considered doing some more of the Mediterranean Basin (thinking Greece, Rome, and maybe the Near East) instead of concentrating on Africa.

I see, you believe Ramses and Nefertiti were Bantues, rather than Egyptians. Or perhaps those drawings were a commision for the Moorish Science Temple of America... LOL.

Welcome aboard, anyways.

I do believe the majority of ancient Egyptians were dark-skinned tropically adapted Northeast African people, but that's for another thread (assuming people want to argue about it again, since surely this topic has been brought up on AllEmpires before). Anyway, I have a Nubian soldier in the works right now.

I think all in all whether they were middle eastern of Caucasian origin or Africans IE descendants of black people doesn't matter what does matter is the what can be separated from historical legend and historical fact. To me race doesn't matter cause if we can't even decide on a race or a historical path than what is fact about said person? What truths do we have about their historical being or even existing. Some people consider Jesus as described in the bible as a legitmate account of said person's life. Including

Indeed. Nubians became very advanced by copying the Egyptians...

Awesome art, you should consider developing an animated series. Just don't air them on the "History" channel unless your characters are willing to drive a tractor trailer through ice or attempt to catch lobster in rough and stormy seas....

An imagination is something that makes everything feels alive. This beautiful historical art is one of them that show the ancient history alive. Here this was just superb and I guess, worth to exhibit among the people.

Hello Joe just wanted to add to the collective applause, you're talented. Hope you make lots of money. Graphic novels are very good sellers, wish they were around when I was a kid.
Still round the corner there may wait, a new road or a secret gate. (J. R. R. Tolkien)
