Sure I know who he is...........  (as a side note there is a girl band that does a great take on louie, louie using Louis Riel .. Must listen if your like girl punk early 90's/retro 60's w/ a flair for history.. :) ) http://www.amazon.com/Louis-Riel/dp/B001R5Q0WE

I guess you wanna compare that to whole sale slaughter of men, women & children..........  Killing their food supply & starving them to death.....  Then go head..........

Bill Cosby, in re: You don't want to hijack your own thread.

Frankly, saying as much as you have reference 'genocide' has already destroyed much of this thread's credibility by laying bare your reasoning abilities. We've beaten that crazy 'genocide' horse to death on other threads. You aren't, perchance, related to Carch and Penguin?

I see. Interestingly ironic thing about the Mexican way of combating the Comanches, seeing that you brought it up, was for them to encourage Anglo migration into Northern parts of Texas to act as a buffer between them and the Comanches.

As far as the genocide aspect………  I don’t want to hijack my own thread……..

As I said, make a thread on it & I will be happy to discuss it..  I have nothing more to say  on it in this thread.. THnx

I understand! I'll say no more about it, after this post, in this thread of yours.

Sure some sided w/ the colonist, but that is not the point now is it……..  It was not a static situation….. They systematically cleared out the eastern tribes & sent the survivors packing… Hell, even helping the colonist did not save them from meeting the same fate as the losers…….lol

Well, i admit... you got me scratching my head on that one. I remember what happened to the tribes on the southeastern coast, but i'll be darned if i can remember from my school days about what had happened to the tribes further up north? Ah well... Time to get out my old dusty books and refresh the ol' noggin!

I was not refering to tribes up north but west..........

But as a side note, what happened up north did effect the game in the west as exampled by the Comanche getting the horse........

Obviously this poster knows about as much on the Numunuh as he does Haiti and obviouly he's never even been to Paducah! Not that I am in the habit of kicking dead horses, but if the poster really knew anything about Numunuh organization, or the fragility of their social structures, he would understand that their "mortality" rates had about as much to do with  other Amerind groups as it did with Spaniards, Mexicans or US nationals! After all, to other Utes they were "Comanches" (koh-mahts): those that would kill us!

As a follow up to drgonzaga's post. I wouldn't consider the Comanches a good candidate in what you may be implying a certain word for. They themselves were relative newcomers to the plains just prior to the 19th century, sweeping through and destroying other tribes before them. Expanding their lands at he expense of others including indigenous, Spanish, Mexican and Anglo settlers; One of the primary reasons for their aggressiveness is because of their adoption of the horse itself into their culture!
