Darn, How many end-times and last days can one person take in a lifetime? And as Constantine notes: Humanity manages to make it through. Chicken Little, on the other hand, had good reason to worry: Colonel Sanders and Jolly Bee!

I've already been through the "this is the end" about 400 times. I stopped paying attention to that stuff years ago.

You can afford to be relaxed about the world ending, you've made it to your mid 80s Big smile

Ehh, true LOL

And I think the world has a while left, just because civilization may be lacking does not mean that the entire world will suddenly implode over a species that has only been in existence for a a few hundred thousand years

I agree, it takes a lot for the US to collapse, and so far so good

Actually it is a good thing if you are talking about god of moses prophecies.
Things get bad but good will overcome evil.

Unfortunately, it is hard to tell which evil.
Islamist or evil power that control financial world.

Of course all of major religion could simply be a copy of lie started in sumer thousands of years ago.  Elites created fake story about religion and themselves to control others and take more than their fair share of wealth.

The optimist believes this is "the best of all possible worlds."
The pessimist is afraid he's (the optimist) is right.

It is always the end of the world as we know it some place.
If it is the end of the world, then all of a sudden all are actions become very meaningful.  The duality between good and evil is coming to fruition, it is thus time to sort the sheep from the goats.  If it is _not_ the end of the world, then our actions seem trivial, wasted, of no consequence.

Go to the nature museum and look at the dinosaur footprint.  Did that dinosaur say that he was going to leave a footprint that will last 70 million years that will create wonder for people?  Probably, not.
Or how about Vincent Van Gogh, who sold maybe one painting in his lifetime.  We don't know the significance of our own actions, but we can realize, _intellectually_ that that dinosaur didn't either, but he (and Van Gogh) _were_, _are_ very significant, meaningful despite what they thought in life.  If we _intellectually_ know that we might be very important in the _long_ run, then we might emotionally learn that too, and not worry about it too much.  And if we don't worry too much, we might not _need_ to believe that the world is going to end tomorrow.  Or as the pessimist might say, if only we could be so lucky;)  :P

I believe it was Seneca who said:
Don't live as if you are going to die tomorrow.
Live as if you might die tomorrow.

I'd love to be there, just so I could say, "I told you so, you've made a mess of it."

Schadenfreude.  It is a great German word, but you should be able to find it in a _good_ English dictionary, look it up.

I know what the word means, but, would it be any point if there's no-one else left to talk to, to drive buses to transsport me places, to operate the TV Channels for me to watch, and to make all of the things that make my life enjoyable?

And I'd probably miss the event anyway. I've somehow missed every End of the World so far, just karma I suppose.
