As far back as Homer and his Iliad, there has been reference to a Female Warrior band called the Amazons. They were apparently as adept at war as were their neighbouring male dominated tribes, and over the centuries, much has been written about them.
 
But, did they really exist?
 
Where did they live, and where did they come from?
 
What became of them? were they absorbed into male dominant cultures?
 
Has any real archaeological evidence been found to substantiate the stories about them?
 
Or are they simply a myth?
