Contrary to the common belief, in Latin America women have a status similar to men; and it has always been like that. Latina women are not dominated females like in other Third World countries. Even more, I would say Latin men are dominated by theirs women LOL. And we are proud of them all.
To my beloved Latina sisters!!! Starting from this one... Wink

Apparently others disagree.

Arlington:
Piguin is an extremely proud South American eccentric.

I've called him Amerocentric, so I'll be surprised if you don't get an argument from him on this.

I'm not looking for an argument here Toyo.

Merely presenting an opposition viewpoint to his claims. Personally, I'm not necessarily concerned with his post at all...other than to see, and that it's interesting to note. That once again, afaic, it's actually quite indicative of the usual and standard hyperbole and typical Latin American male nationalistic-macho rhetoric; as they believe and perceive it.

The key being the last. "as they believe and perceive it".

My most recent business trips into C. America within the past six months also verify that same standard as remaining evident.

Which is to say that it's nothing new.

Others clearly don't agree.

Mate, I was just giving you a little insight into our Pinguin.

I'm not greatly concerned with the post either, but discussions with Pinguin can become interesting.

As for
Quote the usual and standard hyperbole and typical Latin American male nationalistic-macho rhetoric; as they believe and perceive it.

I don't disagree with you at all on that point.

But don't take Pinguin too seriously, or you'll get heartburn-like I did!LOL

You don't take me seriously?

Well, so far I have shown clearly that I have knowledge on the topics I talk. I am also convinced I live in a wonderful place.

You forget a single fact. I have lived in a developed developed country of anglosaxon rooted culture. So I know the cynical attitude of that society. I also know the defects of my own people.
I don't argue about that.

But, don't tell me there is no machism in the anglosaxon countries. Of course there is.
The difference is only that every though in the anglophone paradise is controlled by the new inquisition called political correctness, that works something like this.

So, is there racism in the anglophone world? Of course, but don't call it "race"... call it ethnicity. Don't use the "n" word, use the term "afro".

So, is there sexism in the anglophone world? Of course, but don't call it that way. Convert women in "machos" instead.

So, is there infanticide in the anglophone world? Of course not. Abortion is not infanticide.

So, is there domestic violence in marvelous anglophone world? Of course, but don't show it on the news.

So, is there poverty in the wonderful anglophone world? Of course, but don't look at it. Never film the way poor farmers of Kentucky live. On the movies, only show the wonderful houses of the upper middle class. Everyone know, the poor in the anglophone world are only blacks, indigenous people, immigrants from the third world and poor red necks (also known as white trash), who are actually mentally retarded people

So, yes, Latin America has many failures and injustices. One thing we are not tough. We aren't hypocrites like others.

Pinguin, mi amigo, you would be proud of a Frog on a log, if it was South American.

Yes, I do take you seriously, and that in itself can be frightening, but "keep on keeping on" as the saying goes.

And why should you not think you have your slice of Eden?

You're as much entitled to your opinion as anyone else.Thumbs Up

Ha ha ha!!!
You are the only time in ten years in forum that another person has captured my sense of humor. You know, I try to be just the mirror on which the anglophone can look to themselves.
As the matter of fact, normal and standard Latinos usually are VERY individualistic and don't care much on the society they live. They usually don't feel proud of anything and just want to change everything. Somebody has to be different. I just comment in forums as a standard "gringo" but with Latino clothes.   LOL

Your thread your claims....we were talking about them...not some feeble straw man attempt to obfuscate the thread away with your obvious rejoinders reference the Anglophones.

In a word... that claptrap was expected and predictable. Your reputation and bigotry reference the english speaking world is well known on more than one forum.

Consequently your dismissed.

I think I've got you worked out, I no longer get heartburn when reading your posts.

But your eccentricity is not easy to understand over a short period, it takes time and patience, and other members will probably take some time to understand you too.

Stick with it amigo.

But you must agree that Thalia (the woman above in the movie) as her song say, "está re buena". (Please, rush to the dictionary and/or Latin American friends, to get that superb joke of mine)

Ouch !!! "Caliente" is not a translation of "hot". It sounds very bad in Spanish. You made me remember American tourists that say "estoy embarazado" to mean "I am embarrased"... Ha ha. Embarazado in Spanish means pregnant :)

Sure. But she also is a decent lady, married with two kids and lives in Paris. Unlike her, "a mujer caliente" usually lives in the prostitutes' neighbor of a city" LOL

Mate, I have no problem with you being proud of your womenfolk, but "beauty is in the eye of the beholder".

And no doubt some of the mujer caliente are very beautiful too.

I don't agree. Show pictures to men of all ethnicity, and they would agree on who are pretty and who aren't. That proverb of "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" is simply sympathy with ugly women.

But there's an old saying, "Beauty is skin deep, ugly goes right to the bone."LOL

What I'm really saying here is that what is beauty to you, me well be repugnant to me. Every individual has their own idea of what beauty means to them.

Maybe there are no ugly women, just different women.

What I meant is simply that Thalia (the girl above) has the classical Latino beauty. I am not saying all our women are pretty at all. But you should remember a large percentage of World Beauty awards have been given to Latinas, and there is a reason for it. We have many pretty women.

And we could start from Margarita Carmen Cansino, whose artistic name was Rita Hayworth.
