Hello everyone!
If you have heard of the creator of the 17th century Maratha kingdom, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, you may be interested in this. I translated the complete introduction to the best biographical novel on his life, Shriman Yogi. The introduction was written by a then-prominent Marathi intellectual, Shri Narahar Kurundkar.

Keep in mind, I am no professional writer, but having read several (sometimes biased) attempts at translation of a part of this introduction on the Internet, I felt that a complete translation would not be amiss. The part that is usually translated is titled "How small Shivaji was." Certainly that is the most brilliantly written piece, but the whole thing is quite unique and eye-opening. I felt that it should be accessible to non-Marathi speakers.

I have tried to stick pretty close to Mr. Kurundkar's words. Any mistakes in spelling, grammar or style are all mine. Enjoy!
