New research suggests the - Hyksos  dynasty of ancient - Egypt  was likely the result of an immigrant uprising, not a hostile outside invasion.

franciscosan, are you saying that you agree?

The quote from the article is hardly proof of anything as far as sudden invasions are concerned.

Isn't there a trail through the Sahara littered with carefully wrapped (not mummified but 'prepared') human remains and evidence of a culture being pushed across Africa towards the Nile delta by the growing desert?

"They found that a large percentage of the populace were non-locals who immigrated from a wide variety of other places. This pattern was true both before and during the Hyksos dynasty.

This pattern does not match the story of a sudden invasion from a single far-off land, but of a multi-cultural region where one internal group -- the Hyksos -- eventually rose to power after living there for generations. "

Still round the corner there may wait, a new road or a secret gate. (J. R. R. Tolkien)

I was just pointing out a proposal and its scientific basis.  In this case I do not agree and do not disagree.  They seem to be taking evidence from one study, and extrapolating out from it.  But I think that it really would take an expert in Egyptology, particularly one specializing in the Hyksos to have an informed opinion.  Unfortunately, that also sometimes means a biased opinion as in they have spent their entire life with a particular view, and it is in their own vested interest to continue in that view.  That is nothing nefarious that is just human nature.  But, wait 20, 30 years and maybe a radical new conclusion made now will have had a chance to stick around and become established (whether it 'deserves' to be so or not).
