Queen and Country is on exhibit at the Imperial War museum.  Brought to my attention by The Genius of British Art on Channel 4 tonight.

The artist is Steve McQueen, pictured below by his work. He was commissioned by the Imperial War Museum as its artist in Iraq. Embedded with UK troops there, he came up with work consisting of stamps with the faces of fallen UK servicemen and women in memoriam.

The work is incomplete and will remain so until the Royal Mail publishes the stamps for use.  Understandably so.  How powerful a message it would be for those untouched by or apathetic to war to receive a letter with one of these stamps on it.  Censored because apparently it's too personal.

"There was glory in pissing, Corabb decided as he watched the stream curve out and make that familiar but unique sound as it hit the ground." So true.
