Hi folks.

I have decided to begin posting here on AE.net in a subject area I have thoroughly enjoyed for many years and thru lengthy and exentisive service as a former plans-ops-training officer and force mod-consultant-liason- officier in the US Army, still enjoy a great deal.

The essential intent is to provide a medium for that cited in the title thread and yet generate dialogue and comments and comparisons of other nations states efforts in the same venue.

Consequently many of the posts here will be informative in nature, not necessarily requiring replys but I certainly would like to see those as well.

I have done this on a number of other forums and it was generally well recieved by the members and staff at large...I hope it will be as well here. I'll begin by posting out some excellent links to some of the best sites on the net for this subject matter and encourage you to visit and interact with them as they are a wealth of information.

thanks.

With the de re militari i figure its one of those books that you'd have to read if your a commander in the military. I have never been in the military but I was real close to joining the marines and I choose to finish college first. So my opinion of what "essential military reading" is lacking but I feel this is one of those books. Kind of like if you want to start a guerrilla war you'd read Che guerrilla and counter guerrilla reading.

Can't argue that.

While in the formative stages of what would prove to be a lengthy career.....the reading lists were endless. And that included and still does the great masters of old.

Actually the Ingall's ship line construction company was once an independent company previously.
Ntl it's interesting to see the machinations of the corporate giants, in the defense industry, do their dancing.

''The company's Ingalls shipyard in Pascagoula - along with its Avondale shipyard near New Orleans, now set for closure - is the country's primary supplier of amphibious ships, and also builds destroyers for the Navy and national security cutters for the Coast Guard.''

Here's a few I have found interesting recently....opine as you will.

India tests missile that can reach China
Excellent news. Counters the PRC and their overt and covert support of the DPRK rogue state nuc proliferation viz the Iranians. And support of the terror sponsor states of Iran and Syria. As the US refuses to do so as a result of the socialist-utopianism appeasement leadership in vogue. Also keeps the Pakistanis docile. And it's great for defense stocks. LOL

This one infers they haven't been thinking about them and conducting RDA..which is far from the truth.

Think Tank: DoG Should Focus On Directed Energy Weapons

China, Russia Launch First Joint Naval Exercises
Not unexpected. Typical response and counter of the former communist allies. In response to growing concerns of both nations ongoing forcemod..geographical expansionism claims and the reaction they are getting concerning the direct support of the DPRK and Islamist terrorist rogue states.
