The political influence of blue collar workers has been declining for decades. Unions were once a prominent political block to be courted by politicians. As demographics have shifted in favour of minorities liberals have abandoned what was once one of there most powerful allies.

To some extent the blue collar workers have themselves to blame. Before the decline of U.S. manufacturing it would have been suicidal for any politician to demonize poorly educated white males. While unions have been dominated by white males there has been little effort to incorporate minorities and women into the power structure. The simple explanation is that poorly educated white males are as sexist and racist as liberals say they are.   Whatever the reasons are the failure to diversify the Labor movement has crippled it as much as the decline of manufacturing. Identity politics have left white blue collar workers on the sidelines.

It is not surprising that those that have the least to lose have overwhelmingly represented the face of identity politics and the marginalization of lower class white males. The center of power for liberals has shifted to areas where there is little or no competition from minorities. Primarily the power center for liberals is the educational system and professionals where women are unusually dominate. Unlike their working class counter parts they go home to safe neighborhoods where years of progressive politics have not criminalized minorities through the destruction of two parent families.

Studies show that IQ is closely associated not just with economic success but also the stability of marriage. The problems introduced by identity politics have little negative impact on that segment of the population with the advantage of high intelligence. With the government directly or in directly funding a ever increasing percentage of those with higher education it is disingenuous to suggest that the intelligentsia does not have a stake in dismantling the old liberal power base of nativity socially conservative white males. At least in part this accounts for the hyperbole of anti Trump rhetoric for example.

If the ivory tower was as objective as the propaganda suggests the excesses of identity politics would not be as malevolent as they are. The truth is that the intelligentsia has a will to power that they consider a birthright.   Since they have nothing to lose personally from alienating the marginalized white males and catering to the self destructive impulses of traditionally oppressed minorities they blindly precede with little or no self examination.

So few of our educated class now have any contact with the nuts and bolts that make up the foundation of a civilization they fail to understand their existential dependence on the Labor of the "deplorables" or increasingly the Les Misérables.   The class divide, although increasingly based on IQ, is becoming reminiscent of conditions prior to the French Revolution.
The West is increasingly able to ignore the systemic failure of a social divide by exporting pollution and slave labor to China and the third world. The greatest hypocrisy comes from a minimally productive educated class that is the major beneficiary of the international movement.
