I finished Michael Wynne-Parker's biography of Wilson Lutara some time ago, and from that book, I took a good stance towards Uganda. However, I also learned a lot about the country's recent history (from 60's to 80's perhaps).
I was wondering therefore, what's the general view on the governments of Obote (the first one), Amin and Obote's second one? Is it pretty much commonplace opinion that none of them was worth much and all edged too far into the dictator-like?
Also, since Lutara drew back from politics after Amin's government, the book didn't mention modern-day Ugandan troubles. How is it going on there currently?
And as the final question, what's your own opinion on Wilson Lutara? The book turned him into a very appealing person (at least for me), so I could easily sympathize with him and his concerns.
