You're not going to get anything precise from one photo, but my guess is Iranian.

I think Iranin is arabic.

I think he looks familiar, but I can't remember. Another problem being old, and a manchu! We almost can't remember our names, much less faces!!

From what i have read, people from the region make an effort in pointing out the differences from Arabic and Persian.

As for the pictures, not being from the area, i can't tell what his ethnic make up is. And that is one of the main historical problems of the region. I feel that the region is so inter-mixed that pointing out any one single dominant ethnic heritage is not only hard but can also be counter productive in the pursuit of a relationship. Which leads me to ask the question...

@ flower22 - Has he brought this question up himself or is  it just a matter of personal curiosity that respectful modesty on your part does not permit you in asking him yourself?

To me he looks like a young Mubarak, whatever that means in terms of ethnicity.

From the start something was knocking on my memory - I think it was this:

Sumerian as I recall. Maybe it's just the eyes.

Early Mesopotamian i.e. now Iraqi. The piece is from around 2,000 BC. The picture above is one I took myself but you'll find it in full side view at http://www.kingsacademy.com/mhodges/05_World-Cultures/02_Ancient-Eastern-Civilizations/02a_Mesopotamia-2.htm where it is said to be of the 'steward Ibihil'.

I think in the most common usage it's more correct to say Persians are/were Iranians rather than the other way around. But it's a bit of a minefield.

Ok guys i got the answer from him in person , it was a bit awkward at first but he told me that his origins are from saudi arabia
I guess the sumerian civilisation was a pretty good approche to this person's ethnicity since sumerians were in the actual iraq .
In conclusion iran and iraq are pretty close and are the most nearest ethnicitys that could belong to this person .

Thanks a lot for your participation .
And for berbers i don't think so since there is no resemblances at all  .

Thread could be closed dear mods .

Well, my occupation differs depending on what time period, but my current occupations are retired sinology, calligraphy, linguistics teaching, and sometimes I work as a cook. But my older proffesions were: operating a money press, cooking, housekeeping, and a few other little odds and ends here and there.

I lived in the western part of Hebei Province, in the Republic of China (not Peoples Republic, the Kuomingtang republic) from 1928 (birth) to 1941, and again from 1947-1948, but I have lived in many other places such as: Manchuria (1941, 1943, and 1945), Okinaw a(1942), the Philipines (1944), Burma (1942), Malaysia (1942), Russia (1945-1947), Ceylon (1962-1964), Singapore (1966-1969), San Francisco (1948-1955, 1969-1978), Canada (1956-1961), West Germany (1979-1983), France (1983), Austria (1984), Mexico (1985-1987), and Louisville, Ky. (1965, 1988-present).

The only problem with my travels is that I was rarely permitted to see any of the sights that EVERYONE else got to see!!! Especially in the Phillipines, Burma, Malaysia, and Okinawa. I was stuck working all day!!
