Hello to all

So the Philosophy and Theology subforum is the little corner of All Empires reserved for the discussion of topics related to -- you guessed it -- Philosophy and Theology. Here we deal with topics such as aetiology, cosmology, ethics, metaphysics, theology, etc., both as they have been understood historically as well as how they relate to us as living, breathing individuals.

Because of the contentious and deeply personal nature of some of the topics of discussion, it seems necessary to establish a few basic parameters within which intelligent, mature dialogue may take place. First, while you may disagree with someone, and even assert that they are wrong, you may never, ever call them or their beliefs stupid. There is a fine line between argumentation and polemicism, and if you are concerned that you might be crossing it with a specific post, it might be best to consult with someone. Second, there is to be no ideological preaching on this subforum, of any sort. All discussions must take place in a scholarly fashion. You may, of course, assert your beliefs, philosophical, religious, or otherwise. You may not do so without being willing to provide evidence to support them, or without being willing to engage in a discussion about them. Finally, as with the rest of All Empires, by posting on this subforum you are voluntarily subjecting yourself to our Code of Conduct and Terms of Service. If you do not feel that you can abide by the CoC, for whatever reason, you would do best to venture elsewhere.

There is an introduction thread, where you may give us a brief philosophical and religious snapshot of yourself. This has helped, in the past, to facilitate an atmosphere of intellectual honesty and understanding. Below are some links to the old forum, which should provide you with a sample of how dialogue has traditionally taken place. We look forward to meeting you, and learning from you.

EDIT: So es_bih and I will provide links at some point in the near future. By the way, es_bih, I broke up the post a bit (the version I sent you was an extremely rough draft Wink). -Ako
