I wouldn't class this as the "creation" of life myself, personally, me - because it wasn't created from scratch and made to work.

But the possibilities are endless and exciting!

Repent ye heather for the wrath of the Lord draws near! Frankly, news of this towering Babel moment leaves much to be desired given the "quality" of life claimed...

Wrath of the Lord draws near at this, the creation of life?  If all of the wrong in the world didn't draw his wrath by now then I rather think he couldn't care less.

then it is possible to creat life and we can creat life in a labWink, but who created the life  long before humans existed and had  put their brains together for millions of years to be able to duplicate a very simple life form Question

I haven't looked into the very specifics of what the synthetic cell consists of, or exactly how it was produced, but it seems that only the genetic sequence and DNA structure is synthetic. It was copied from a bacterium into a computer, then reconfigured slightly, allowing the computer to direct synthesis of the genome. I have heard that the genetic code was modified so that different names of famous people and a website were encoded, but not sure if this is true or not! Anyway, the cytosol (cytoplasm and constituents), as well as plasma membrane were all natural as far as I know - we haven't reached the stage of synthesising organelles, the cytoskeleton or membrane structure, but the computer-directed synthesis of a genetic code is nevertheless a monumental step forward in biotechnology!

Must it be that someone have done that? Could one not think of self organising matter that forms different shapes and even intelligence just given the right conditions and enough time?

it seems it was much easier to build life in earlier time only a few amino acids puting together and shaking like milk shake and voila!! the  LIFE  was born.Wink
today the most advanced labs and most avanced computers  and teams of scientists are used to duplicate the genetic information and recreate life in the simplest formDisapprove
it was much better in the begining when none of these things were needed for making same thingWink
our scientists are good for nothingLOL because they need so much  things and time and and spending so much of tax payers moneyShockedfor making such a simple thing  which was done by itself millions of years ago according many peoples!! what kind of achievement  it isQuestion

Given it's critics, i am currently thinking that technological singularity is still possible after all?

Do not forget the element of time. Modern science has existed in maybe a couple of hundred years (depending how you define it) and labs that have been working with trying to create life have been working a few decades. The processses that lead to life in nature can have taken millions of years before something that can be called life arose from lifeless chemicals.
So compared with that our scientist are doing quite well.

Ah, a miniscule dot far, far smaller than the smallest single celled organism is recomposed and then called "life"...such really redefines the actual meaning of the term does it not?

Have people forgotten that nothing was "created" here and the better term for what took place is the "manipulation" of something.

Well it's as much a creation as Frankenstein's Monster.

Of course, but that wouldn't make for a good headline would it?!

No, as in it has been cobbled together with spare parts and then brought to life.
