I looked up "Trump" in the dictionary lately, and what I found was very interesting.
(Oxford Universal Dictionary)

Trump means to trumpet or proclaim.

a trumped up charge is a false or fraudulent charge.

trumpery is fraud.

How much are people influenced by a little thing like their name, and what it means?  Or for example, where they are "from."  Bill Clinton claims to be from Hope Arkansas, although he was probably from the town next door.  Wow, a politician lied, imagine that.  When Hillary and Obama made up on the 2008 campaign trail, they meet at Unity, Missouri (I believe).  Obama and Bill got together for a rally at Kissume, FL.  Is a name like that a coincidence?  I kind of doubt since Obama at the time was one big democratic love fest.   Is a rose, by any other name, just as sweet?  Or can we leverage these names for influence on others and on ourselves?  It is interesting to me that anyone would ever believe Trump is telling the truth because his unscrupulous business practices and his very name cries out fraud.

I did that too (looked Trump up in dictionary and sometimes look other names up too). My first association was the "last trump" of Revelation/Apocalypse. Like you i also had the association "trumped-up/false/fraudulent charge", and trump in card games, and some times he has seemed like just a fake give-away to Hillary/Clinton. Trump also is similar to other words like slump, dump, crump. There is Trumpkin the Dwarf in CS Lewis's Narnia books. Donald is shared by Donald Duck.
Its not just Trumps name and his unscrupulous business practices or bankrupt casinos. The reasons i don't trust or fall-for Trump are:
- blond/German/kkk links. (kkk has catholic/roman/aryan links.)
- pope/"Christian"/bible/harlot (& French / Scottish) links (& word "quintessential"?) (Romney?)
(- mobsters link.)
- 3 times married; "likes" the women alot.
- Businessman / rich / real estate agent
- eastern bloc connections?
- Israel/Jewish links.
- numerology/dates ("70 yrs", 1946, 1999, 1966)
- party hopper/changer.
- casinos.
- bankruptcy that effected others.
- no open stance against water fluoridation that i know of?
- his family all immigrants.
However I also don't at all like "smart power" Hillary/Clinton either.

Hillary is Roman goddess name i think?

I have often noticed in life/world/history that peoples names do seem to have some relation to their personality/type/life. Perhaps the parents choice does have some.
It is said that ancients thought names tied up with nature of things, and in indoeuropean languages the word name and soul (anima) are very similar.
Of course in medieval times surnames often were given relating to peoples occupation (Smith) or location or parents name (Edwards, Williams, Robinson).
Some womans names are female versions of male names (Joanna, Andrea, Carol).
(Numerology of names is more complicated since which numerals Roman, Greek, Hebrew?)
Judaeo-Xtian bible says that everyone who was saved not damned will be given a name only they know in the new heaven and new earth.
On the other hand i hate to be deterministically bound/limited and surely. There must be some amount of leeway and though we have to be ourselves we must also strive to not be leveraged by / dictated to by humans/spirits.
(Meaningful) coincidences do happen in life/history.

Hitler is similar to Hittites.

In some topics/subjects i have researched it is interesting the people in history with same names eg:
Joseph/Asaph: Joseph son of Jacob, Joseph father of Jesus, Gobbels, Chamberlain, Stalin, etc
Arthur: "(King) Arthur", ..., etc.

I have noticed how quite a few people named Peter are similar type to Peter in bible.
There are also artificial associations like the name Peter is used alot by the Catholics/Papists [Romans/Imperials].

One person  said on a forum "sometimes i think that the nomes built them" and i loooked up gnome in the dictionary....

My name Sean has two meanings, on on hand is cognate with Irish/Indo-European senior/senator/senile and related to shannon "little old wise one", on other hand is Irish of Hebrew John "God/Yah + grace/favour". I am abit similar to apostle John However there is not anymuch grace/favour in my Hell life so far.
There are names coincidences in my family tree. My ancestor 7 generations agowas a Jean coincidentally.
My maternal grandmother surname Wildermo(u)th matches my trouble with my mouth i have long had.

There is a story that my maternal grandmother had an affiar with an Italian pow about 9/10 months before my mother  was born. My mothers name is Jennifer (Guinevere). My mother had 4/5 marriages. My fathers two marriages were with J- names. A friend has same name as my father and wife with a similar J- name too. (Jennifer means white wave and her mothers name means white rose, though by contrivance.)

Founder of Christian Science is Mary Baker Eddy.
Mary means bitter and related to Catholic Mary.
Baker is like baker & cupbearer in Joseph story of Genesis.

Don't know which way around Robin Hood was? (Robin/robber/robe.)

Somesay Obama means beast or something in Hebrew?
I remember with Obama versus McKane how it was like Cain vs Abel.

(I noticed that quite a few "prominent" people like politicians of different western world countries have the same surname/family-name. But that is starting to  get away from the topic.)

Where people are from does have some influence but not so much, and it is maybe a different topic? "Insular outlook/worldview".
I thought Sandars meeting at *Philadelphia* was suspicious since he is pro-pope.

In the judaeo-christian bible names meanings have significance, for example Canaan means "down low" (which, though true, some jews/rabbis wrongly over-gloat about).

p.s. I hope your username only means you are from San Francisco and doesn't mean you are in with "pope" [emperor] Francis.

But sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.
The question is how much do we read _into_ names, how much we _should_ read into names, and how much are they just coincidental, _arbitrary_.  In antiquity and Middle ages, names were not arbitrary, but thought to reveal something about the individual, or thing.  "Apollo" meant a-pollon, meaning "not many," at least for some.  "Demeter" was the "grain-mother."
20th century linguistics (after Ferdinand Saussure) believes that names are arbitrary, I am not so sure about that, at least that is not how many people treat them.   I remember Julia Roberts on TV saying that she was going to marry Lyle Lovitt, saying "I love Lovitt!"  I don't think the relationship lasted long, but I know that she was influenced by the name, both the strong triple 'L's' and the "Lov(e)" bit.

truthsetsfree, I am influenced by St. Francis in that I like talking to animals (but they don't talk back, which is rude of them:( or maybe it would be rude of them to talk back<grin>  ), and my first name John, which influences me to be interested in language.  John 1.1  "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."  So when I say that some people are influenced by names, well, I resemble that remark:)
I thought Sanders was Jewish, so I don't know why you say he was pro-pope.  I didn't pay attention to closely to Sanders.  Kaine is Catholic, and from everything I have heard, a decent man.  I don't think he takes his name to heart like perhaps Trump does.  I knew a boy in elementary school with the last name "Little," boy did he get teased, and he took it quite personally.  Eventually changed his name when his mom remarried.

On proPope Jewish Sandars, and Catholic Kaine, (and pro-pope Trump) please see my evidences posted in this thread/topic http://www.allempires.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=36505 . (I have since then recently left allempires because Centrix closed/locked my topics/threads, and some threads/topics went missing/deleted, etc.) All 5 main ones of the democrat and republican us presidential candidates of 2016 have only one thing in common which is pope links. All the last half dozen us presidents had pope connections. All given in that thread.

The Little reminds me of Little John.

The Greek deity names are highly disputible (despite orthodox adamant "authority" assertions). Apollo supposedly from word "destroy" but actually links with Hittite gate god Apulunas/Pldans (Chaldee Aplu/Ablu?) or another one that has slipped my mind right now.

My family name is BEADLE. A beadle was an English parish disciplinarian. I was a police officer for all of my working life. Go figure.Big smile

My financial advisor is named Rich, from what I understand a lot of lawyers are named Laurence.  But of course, some people are going to do the exact opposite of what their name suggests, to be contrary.

My uncle's name is Arthur Bingham Cherrie (Bing Cherrie).  I think his name made for a great icebreaker for university fundraising.

Does anybody else find in funny that (Anthony) Weiner might screw Hillary?
His scandal is the source of the new emails discovered that are possibly relevant to her use of a private server.  (I still think she is better than the alternative).

You can't make this stuff up.

The Lawrence one reminds me of the Jebel Lawz = Sinai as if "God" has a sense of humour.

This topic "why no other King Arthurs" on why not any other kings named Arthur might be of interest

I just did a study of the name Arthur
http://www.allempires.com/forum/ebook_view.asp?BookID=101&ChapterID=1599
Your uncle Arthur might like that?

Common first names:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_most_common_names

Franciscosan could relate to: St Francis of Assissi; Pope Francis; Francesco Franco; Austrian emperor/heir Francis; San Francisco.

Donald's original family name is of course "Drumpf", though his German grandfather changed to Trump. I think it's a good choice - to 'trump' someone can also mean to out-compete them.

My surname like Donald's is German in origin and in medieval High German means "shielder". Unlike Donald's family, we kept our original name including the distinctively German "sch" spelling. But I have noticed some people who have the same surname phoenetically but with the spelling changed to reflect how English speakers would most intuitively render the same sound.

Language changes over the centuries, and so now my surname in addition to meaning "shielder", also means that much less glorious "umbrella-er".

Thats interesting (thanks).

good grief, Trump/Drumpf sounds like Schtroumpfs (Smurfs) [Storm Troopers?]
(Papa Smurf = Pope/Papa, "smurfs are all one family with one father".)

used to know of a Schutrumpf, philosopher and classics scholar.

With athlete's, if they are highly successful or prominent there number gets retired, I kind of assumed the name Arthur was like that, why name someone something that they can't live up to?  On the other hand, King John was considered so bad by the English that they won't name another King, "John."

I think of Trump as an expert in fraud, between him running his own corporation into the ground, after going public and hooking into a lot of investors, while taking a 46 million a year "salary," or the fraud of "Trump University."  I just don't see why he wouldn't defraud the American public.  In fact, he wants revenge on Obama for embarrassing him at a Washington roast.  What better way to get revenge than to destroy something Obama loves?  Not just healthcare, but America itself?

I don't know what your surname is Constantine XI, so your story about it is missing the most important element.  Constantine XI is the last Byzantine emperor??

San Francisco is the Spanish version of St. Francis (of Assisi).  Francisco is a Spanish personal (first) name, "Francisco" is my last name, my family name.  I get junk mail thinking that I am Hispanic.

Obama dug his own grave and I doubt Trump even thinks about the token president.

Part of the Wikipedia's scandal involves how it was known within the Obama administration that the affordable health care act was a fraud. There was always the hope that it's failure would lead to a single payer system. The least transparent administration in history may be the most duplicit but then the two normally go together.

No, there was a press roast in Washington DC and Trump was in the audience, Barack Obama actually got up in front of podium and mocked Trump first for the Birther "controversy" and then said that now Trump can get onto important matters such as Roswell, and dealing with important things such as Meatloaf (the pop star) on his TV show.  The camera showed Trump as fuming, and some analysts say that when he got serious about the going for the Presidency.  He wants Obama to have to hand over the keys to the Whitehouse to him on inauguration day.  Trump loves to humiliate others and hates being humiliated himself.  Obama let his ego overshadow his prudence and (on more than one occasion) has publicly humiliated Trump.  Beating Hillary Clinton is just one step for Trump of his goal of getting back at Obama.

I didn't vote for Barack Obama either time, and yes, I do think that people voted for him because he was a black man, specifically a black man who (unlike say Jesse Jackson or Sharpton) didn't work overtime to make whites feel guilty.  If people had voted for 'the content of the character,' rather than, 'the color of the skin,' (Martin Luther King), I think McCann would have been elected.
Despite all the "post racial" bunk, I think that America still has a history and persistent "problem" with racism.  In some ways, race issues have gotten better with Obama, in some ways high expectations open up new problems. two steps forward (hopefully), one step back:(

I am aware that some believe that Obama care was meant to fail so that a single payer system could be instituted.  Some politicians voted for the affordable healthcare act as an end, but some may have voted for it as a means to a different end.  Most social welfare programs in the past have had some republican buy in, the affordable healthcare act is totally the democrats' fault.  Republicans were shut out, and yes they did have proposals to improve things.  For example limitations on lawsuit amounts.  Unlimited amounts for lawsuits causes doctors to have absurdly high insurance rates.  But of course such a limitation would get in the way of one of the democratic constituencies, trial lawyers, who want huge payouts for lawsuits, the more money for their clients, the more money for them, and just the threat of a lawsuit can get a settlement, and of course, the more big settlements, the more lawsuits.
Obama wanted to make his mark and he did.  Whether it was a good thing, well, 'you can keep your insurance, and you can keep your doctor.'  I have had two different insurance companies since I lost my insurance that I had forever, and I lost my doctor when my insurance changed.  For someone maybe there has been an improvement, but some people I know just pay the penalty, the "tax" and go without.

sorry about so off topic, just answering to other posts, forgot the topic, but if people want to respond to this OT part, they should do so.
