My friends and I (all history/politics geeks) were debating who the smartest president of all time was -- or is. Note that when we say "smartest," we mean book smart.

I did an internet search to see if we could find any good "Top 10 lists." I came up empty, except for a couple of articles like this one:

Who is The Smartest US. President of All Time? Is It Obama?

The article narrows it down to Obama, Wilson, and Jefferson.

But Arthur, Garfield, Cleveland and Lyndon Johnson were themselves teachers.

What's your take on this? Would Jefferson win the accolade for biggest book nerd? Would he win the superlative for "most intelligent"? I haven't done enough research on the more obscure presidents to come to a definitive answer.

Jefferson by far is the smartest politician the U.S. ever had. Another U.S. president to admire is Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Your post contains the most outrageous suggestion that there has been an intelligent US President.

Where is the proof?

The fact that there is no Top Ten of the US smartest Presidents should give you a clue.

Outrageous posts like yours could give rise to rumours that the US has had an intelligent President, despite no evidence to support this theory.

Take yourself outside immediately for a flurry of upercuts. LOL
It's not that I was born in Ireland,
It's the Ireland that was born in me.

Herbert Hoover or Woodrow Wilson certainly. Both had professional and successful careers before joining politics.

Excuse me toyomotor are you trolling?  Was this the kind of behavior that got you banned on historum as well?

Nope, not trolling, cracking a joke as indicated by the emoticon.

I take it that there's still room for a bit of friendly humour on the forum?

If DJ tells me he was insulted by joke, then I'll immediately apologise, as no offence was intended.

And I didn't get banned from Historum for trolling, I got banned there for challenging a decision made by a Mod.

If you're familiar with Historum, you'll know that they ban people for almost nothing, and on a weekly basis.

You've been told all of this before.

The Admin and Mods on this forum know about my history, so if this is your way of trying to get me banned here, it'll take more than that.

Thank you for your interest.

Yes, but you'll know from our own local experience that we've had some very successful business people elected to our Federal Parliament, who've turned out to be like tits on a bull as politicians.

Take the present Billionaire Bufoon in the new Senate. His rediculous behaviour to date doesn't bode well for efficient government in Australia, does it?
