O.K. My curiosity has reached the boiling point on some of the names chosen on this site. If you are so inclined, give reasons why you chose your user name, if not, don't.

To promote openness I will give my reasons for naming my own user-name. Firstly reading a bit about Voltaire, and secondly playing too much Age of Empires. Latter read about the meaning of the term voltage, and latter still forgot.

I always thought you had chosen your name because  you're a person with an electrifying personality.  Smile

Mine is pretty simple. Panther is a part of my family's name. Well, that and i do love the  big cats.

I don't think mine needs explaining - maybe a little correction from main stream thoughts of the word "Northman"

Northman, plural Norsemen - was not only people from Norway, but all the three countries, Denmark, Norway and Sweden.

Mine was derived partly through my interest in trains/train sims. The other part was a character I played in Traveller RPGback in my mispent youth. He'd been hired to provide security aboard a starship. Having successfully exposed the conspirator by means of a clever ruse he chased the villain then mistakenly pushed a grenade through the wrong cabin hatch. So the villain got away, the chief engineer seperated into component atoms, and the ship helplessly crashed. All in a days work :D

Mine has relation with the local fauna of Chile. Here we see penguins quite frequently on the coast. And given it is an animal known worldwide, unlike pudues or nandues, I chose it as my nick.
Actually, my real name is quite boring, but pinguin (that way, badly spelled in English but right in Spanglish) has a personality of its own.

Always remember that 'Penguin' is so called because it is Breton (and 'Welsh') for 'white head', and its head is black.

And as for my name, I can't here, for some reasons, call myself by my usual name of 'Iolo' (Iolo Morgannwg came from the same parish as many of my family and I think he was a brilliant forger), so I call myself after Dic Penderyn, who was executed by the English authorities after the Merthyr Rising (many of my family took part in that), saying 'Duw, beth achyfiawender! (God, what injustice) which stands as my view of most societies so far!

Shingen The Ruler is the name of one of my favorite old school NES games. It was an early turn-based strategy game based on Takeda Shingen and Sengoku Japan.

Francisco is my family name, San is a play on the name (San Francisco) and San is a Japanese honorific meaning Mister.  The honorific is postpositive, hence Franciscosan.  I have been to San Francisco (once), but really have more of a personal connection to Southern California.

Mine: The idea is to associate with the word fantasy (if that was not obvious) and to the winged horse Pegasus, though I also thought about Elefant (With Wings). I admit perhaps my posts are a bit "dry" compared to the name. I had an intention of making them more imaginative.   I  have also considered variations like Fantazas (sometimes I use the later).

franciscosan is my last name plus the Japanese honorific "san" which of course is also an inversion of San Francisco.  My name is Italian in origin, although growing up, I thought it might be Hispanic, but I am purely a mutt, with very little sense of family history or "cultural" identity (apart from being overeducated:P, but that is another story.), or you might say my cultural identity is WASP.

When I was first introduced to the Internet and needed a password, I was driving a Toyota Ute (pickup for our American friends). I was a long time driver of Toyotas so the password/name came easily.
